I think in life, upgrading is simultaneously the best and worst part. Change is always scary, but it's usually (eventually) worth it. I'm on the cusp of several upgrades, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Artistically, I've got my sights set a little higher. At the moment, I'm using really old versions of Paint Shop Pro and Fireworks. For my photography, I'm still using a point-n-shoot. Now, while I do not claim to be overly proficient in either medium, I'm starting to feel like a nine-foot Alice, rubbing shoulders with the ceiling.

I really enjoy my photography. Out of all the art forms I usually work with, photography is the one that feels consistently... arty. That sounds horrible, right? I know that art isn't about showing your work and getting rave reviews. I believe that art is about finding truth, something that's not beautiful, to see it in a new, fresh way and sharing it with others. And photography gets me closest, I think. I've been toying with the idea of buying an SLR, but honestly, I'm terrified. Not only do I not have a lot of money now, I'm not sure I could afford lenses and camera repair costs. But at the same time, it's something I want to try. There's so many more options to get the shot you have in your head, like you'll never have to settle for what's there anymore.

Does that make any sense?

I'm also considering purchasing CS4. The only problem there is I can't buy the Mac AND PC version, and I would need both. Baaaah.

I am really thinking about moving my poetry here to DA. Unfortunately, I don't know any writers on DA, so I have no one with/off whom to bounce pros and cons.
